Trauma

Dental Trauma

Trauma is the damage caused to the body by physical harm. Most of the time, when doctors use the word trauma, they mean major trauma, which is severe physical injury. Major trauma can cause severe consequences for an individual and greatly affect negatively his or her quality of life. By far, the most common cause of trauma is car or motorcycle accidents.

We specialize in the surgical treatment of facial and oral trauma. We know that patients are often nervous about their conditions or are very self-conscious about their image. We treat each patient with tact, humanity, and discreetness.

Each patient is different and thus each solution is different. We hope that you will feel confident that we will do everything we can to help beginning with a phone call or email inquiry. We will work with you to evaluate your needs by viewing your x-rays or scan and ordering any appropriate tests to establish the areas that suffered injury, the length of the damage, and any conditions that require urgent priority.

Once we have this information the surgeon will discuss the various options that are available including any risk or matters that require urgent attention. You will also discuss the expected results in a realistic manner, and the steps and length of the treatment and the recovery. Once the treatment has been agreed on, a schedule is prepared.

Common procedures involved in these cases are:

• Dental implants

• Bridges

• All-on-4s

• Cheek augmentation

• Dentofacial surgery

• Orthognathic Surgery
